Troubleshooting of Problems Encountered in the Use of Doppler Ultrasonic Flow Meter

Doppler ultrasonic flowmeter is suitable for online calibration and inspection of liquid flow in various industrial sites. Depending on the application scenario, it can be divided into wall mounted ultrasonic flowmeter and handheld ultrasonic flowmeter. Sensors can be equipped with external clamp, plug-in, and pipe segment types according to different occasions.

The installation methods of external clamp and plug-in sensors are particularly suitable for large-diameter water supply pipelines. They are installed on the surface of the pipeline or drilled for installation, and have the advantages of continuous flow without stopping production, gradually becoming a commonly used FLOW METER for users to measure flow.

Ultrasonic flowmeter can achieve non-contact measurement, convenient measurement, and can measure a wide range of media, such as water, gasoline, diesel and other media. The cost of ultrasonic external clamping and insertion is almost independent of the pipe diameter, economical, easy to use, and convenient to maintain. The operation energy consumption of ultrasonic flowmeter is very low, and it can achieve long-term battery power supply, which is suitable for more on-site use.

Firstly, confirm the correct selection, which can ensure better use of the ultrasonic flowmeter. The type of ultrasonic flowmeter to be selected should be determined based on the physical and chemical properties of the measured fluid medium. Secondly, when measuring the flow rate, instrument range, and diameter of the medium, the specifications of the instrument may not be the same as those of the process pipeline. It should be determined whether the measured flow range is within the flow range. That is, when the pipeline flow rate is too low to meet the requirements of the Flow instrument or the measurement accuracy cannot be guaranteed at this flow rate, the diameter of the flow meter should be reduced to increase the flow rate inside the pipeline and obtain satisfactory measurement results.

Regularly check the instrument for error codes. Code R indicates normal system operation, J indicates hardware failure, I indicates no signal received, and H indicates low signal strength and poor received signal. E indicates that the current loop current is greater than 20MA, and this prompt result does not affect the measurement. If the current output is not used, it can be ignored. Q represents that the frequency output is higher than the set value, and this prompt result does not affect the measurement. If the frequency output is not used, it can be ignored. K represents an empty pipe in the pipeline, with no fluid or incorrect settings.

In general, when there is a large measurement error or even no signal in the instrument, the first step is to check whether the fluid in the pipeline is full, and then check whether the hardware equipment installation and wiring are intact, such as signal lines, sensor installation coupling agents that need to be replaced, whether the sensor installation distance is correct, turn off the power and then turn it on, check whether the parameter settings are correct and whether they are saved. If the instrument loses power during operation and the initial set parameters are not saved, significant measurement errors may occur, and the correct parameters need to be reset.
